Buzz Brass invites you on a vibrant journey through some of the most inspiring works ever composed. With original and inventive arrangements, the ensemble breathes new life into timeless masterpieces by Debussy, Dvořák, Satie, Bach, Liszt, and many others.

From the spiritual exuberance of Bach to the nostalgic colours of Dvořák’s America, through the contemplative poetry of Satie’s Gymnopédies and the flamboyant virtuosity of Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, each piece unveils a new facet when experienced through the warm tones of the brass quintet.

This program also offers a nod to popular culture with the originality of Brass in Time. A true musical odyssey by Enrico O. Dastous, this piece bridges four centuries of music—from Renaissance works to contemporary cinematic worlds—showcasing the richness and diversity of the brass art form.

2. Christmas With Buzz Brass

Brass Quintet - Chamber music

For the holidays, the quintet offers a concert embodying all of the festive season’s magic, as much with emotion as with a touch of humour. The show full of good cheer includes classics such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker suite and the traditional Silent Night as well as more modern repertoire like Sleigh Ride and The Twelve Days of Christmas. A concert for the entire family to enjoy!

Brass Quintet & Piano - Chamber music

The ensemble gets you reacquainted with George Gershwin’s ageless works by combining the tones of its brass instruments with those of a piano to perform Rhapsody in Blue, Summertime, Cuban Overture and other great hits. Thanks to splendid exclusive arrangements, six instruments thus pay homage to this most celebrated of American composers by evoking all the brilliance and intensity of a full orchestra toward an unforgettable experience!

Brass Quintet & Organ - Chamber music

Tackling Gustav Holst’s iconic symphonic work, the quintet takes us on a majestic interplanetary voyage that sounds amazingly orchestral, including by uniting with the full, roaring power of an organ. Enhancing Buzz Brass’s already impressive palette and expressive dynamics, the combination of these six instruments makes for an enthralling performance that is sure to be remembered!

DURATION: 20 minutes + 15-minute intermission + 60 minutes

Optional narration and visual projection
Buzz Brass enhances the interpretation of Holst’s Planets with stunning visual projections, embracing the seven celestial bodies evoked by this masterful work. This immersive and memorable spectacle delves into the depths of the universe through seven captivating video clips. The synergy between music and imagery is enriched by the narration of a text by Pierre Chastenay, distinguished astronomer and science educator at the Université du Québec à Montréal, also a lecturer, author, and presenter.

Brass Quintet, Vibraphone and Drum Set - Chamber music

Buzz Brass music chamber teams up with two percussionists—on vibraphone and drum set—to carry the audience away to a diversified universe in which Classical, Latin and Jazz music live side by side in perfect harmony. Standards by Ellington, Bolling, Piazzolla and Guaraldi  rub shoulders in this rhythmic musical get-together that will absolutely fire up the audience!
